International Conference “Cultural Transfer at the Turn of the 20th Century”
The event took place February 7-8, 2018, organized jointly by RSUH, State Literature Museum, International Joint Graduate School of RSUH and the University of Freiburg (Germany), Embassy of Germany, Department of German Philology. Embassy of Switzerland and Marina Tsvetaeva Center at the University of Freiburg.
Among the officials participating in the event were Rector Bezborodov, Vice-Rector Shkarenkov, Mr. Jan Kantorcik (Head of the Cultural Section at the German Embassy), Mr. Ulrich Raulff (Director of the Marbach Archive), Dr. Bak (Director of the State Literature Museum), Mr. Thomas Wiemer (Head of the DFG Foundation), Mr. Andreas Haeschen (Head of the Russian Section of DAAD), Elizabeth Shore, co-Director of the Joint Graduate Program.
Rector Bezborodov and Dr. Bak said in their speeches that such cooperative events and activities had developed to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and noted that the works of Rilke had done a lot in that regard, too.
The topics of the presentations made at the Conference included: Rilke’s correspondence, Rilke’s poetics, Rilke and the Russian art, Rilke and Tolstoy, Rilke’s romanticism, Russian translations of Rilke, and others.
A Prolongation Agreement on the RSUH-University of Freiburg Joint Graduate Program was also signed at the Conference.
