“The Tsvetaev Readings” a conference to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Art Museum and the 170th anniversary of Tsvetaev, the founder of the Tsvetaev Museum of Fine Arts
The event took place 9-10 October 2017, opened by Dr. Loshak, Director of the Museum.
The primary talks focused on reminiscences on Museum visits, delivered by Ms. Trukhacheva, the grand-grand-daughter of Tsvetaev, followed by presentations given by the representatives of other Tsvetaev museums: the one in Novye Talitsy and the Marina Tsvetaeva House in Moscow. The talks by the Fellows from the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts centered around the history of the Museum.
The talks given on October 10 were focused on museum-based history education, as well as restoration and preservation activities in museums that keep plaster copies and gypsum sculptures.
The Conference concluded with the opening of the exhibition “The Science of Beauty: teaching of art history at the Emperor Moscow University in the middle of the 19 – the beginning of the 20th century” that displayed unique objects used as visual aids during class instruction of the period.
The plaster cast copies displayed at the RSUH Museum, were purchased over a century ago for the Museum of Fine Arts, so it wasn’t a coincidence that the exhibition devoted to the Classical Period, was opened in the Large Classical Art Hall.
