RSUH President meets with freshmen of the program “Russia and Turkey in contemporary Eurasia: foreign affairs, society, culture”
President Pivovar, Head of the Institute of post-Soviet and Inter-regional Research and corresponding member of the RAS, along with other RSUH experts, met with the students specializing in the unique program recently opened at the Russian-Turkish Center, on 1 September 2017.
President Pivovar spoke of the importance of research in the field of Russian-Turkish relations, emphasizing an ever-increasing need for specialists in Turkish language countries and peoples of the Turkic-speaking countries. He also said that Turkey was currently one of the leading partners of Russia in trade and politics.
Dr. Vasiliev took a short journey into the history and development of the Turkic-speaking world.
A few words about the program:
Students study international and diplomatic relations, political and ethno-confessional geography, history and politics of Turkey and other Eurasian countries, Russian-Turkish relations as well as relations of the two countries with other leading world actors.
One of the core requirements of the program is learning two languages, one Turkish, the other Western European. Learning a third (a Turkic language) is elective.
Graduates are trained to work in political, economic, cultural and private structures related to foreign affairs.
Internships are available both in Russian state organizations and international foundations and in leading Turkish universities.
